Break Even Calculator
Stop operating on guesswork. Calculate the exact minimum revenue and unit volume your business must generate each month to cover its fixed costs.
Operating without knowing your break-even point is like driving with your eyes closed. Many solo business owners set arbitrary revenue targets without knowing the exact floor where their business stops losing money and starts sustaining their life. Your break-even point is your “Survival Baseline”—the absolute minimum revenue required to cover your monthly fixed overheads, operating tools, and baseline expenses. Use this simple calculator to find your monthly baseline in under 60 seconds.
HOW TO FILL-IN THE FIELDS:
- Revenue per Product/Service Unit: Enter your average selling price per item or service package. If you sell multiple items, enter your average price across your portfolio.
- Cot per Product/Service Unit: Enter your average amount of cost per item or service package. If you sell multiple items, enter your average cost across your portfolio.
- Fixed Monthly Expenses: Enter your total monthly non-negotiable costs (software subscriptions, rent, insurance, accounting, tools, phone/internet).
UNDERSTAND YOUR RESULTS AND TAKE ACTION
1. GROSS MARGIN (% GROSS MARGIN) This percentage represents the share of every euro earned, that remains after paying the direct costs of producing your product or delivering your service.
- Reality Check: Gross Margin measures the health of your pricing structure. If your margin is below 40%, selling more units will not make you profitable. You must first fix your unit pricing or reduce your direct production and labor costs
2. MINIMUM MONTHLY REVENUE This is your absolute financial floor. Below this number, your business is actively costing you money from your personal savings or household budget.
3. MINIMUM UNIT VOLUME This tells you how many products or client packages you must physically deliver every month just to break even.
- Reality Check: Ask yourself if delivering this volume is physically achievable within your available monthly working hours without causing operational burnout.
