Monthly Revenue vs. Real Capacity Calculator for Product Makers

Check if your monthly revenue target for your product or handmade business is physically achievable or if it is quietly setting you up for manufacturing burnout.

Most product creators, artisans, and e-shop owners set a monthly revenue goal based on what they want to earn, without checking whether their physical production capacity can support it. When you price your products based on competitor benchmarks or guesswork, hitting a higher revenue target often means working until 2 AM melting wax, stitching textiles, or packing boxes, while earning less than minimum wage per hour of labor. Use this simple 4-step calculator to test your revenue expectations against your real physical making capacity in under 60 seconds.

HOW TO FILL-IN THE FIELDS:

  • My Monthly Revenue Goal (€): Enter your target gross monthly revenue from product sales.
  • My Working Hours per Day: How many daily hours can you realistically dedicate to PURE product manufacturing? (Standard benchmark: 3–5 hours, excluding packing, emails, and marketing).
  • Average Selling Price per Product Unit (€): Enter your average retail price per item across your product catalog.
  • My Average Production Time per Product Unit (Minutes): Enter the total minutes required to make one item (including direct prep and finishing time). If you produce in batches, divide the total batch time by the number of units produced.

UNDERSTAND YOUR RESULTS AND TAKE ACTION

1. MY MONTHLY PRODUCT UNITS GOAL This is the exact number of physical product units you must sell every month to hit your target revenue at your current average selling price. • Reality Check:  Ask yourself if your current audience reach and e-commerce traffic can generate this volume of orders each month.

2. PRODUCTS I CAN PRODUCE PER DAY This figure represents your maximum daily manufacturing capacity based strictly on your available daily production hours. • Reality Check: This is your absolute physical ceiling. If your production capacity per day is lower than what your monthly unit goal requires, you have a capacity bottleneck.

3. NUMBER OF DAYS NEEDED TO PRODUCE YOUR MONTHLY GOAL This tells you how many full working days per month must be spent exclusively on raw product making. • Burnout Alert: Remember that making the product is only 50% of running a product business. You still need available days for packaging, order fulfillment, raw material sourcing, customer service, and social media marketing. If making your monthly units takes more than 50% of your total monthly working days (e.g. more than 10 days out of 20), your pricing is too low or your production process is inefficient.
